Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action.


Content marketing should be at the forefront of any marketing strategy. A content marketing strategy is essential in developing a social media presence and to ensure you are rewarded by the search engines.

How does SEO & content marketing relate?


SEO and content marketing are essentially entwined. I like to think of it as the technical side – and the creative side. All websites need to have the technical side right. These days this is a requirement with the right keywords and the right tags (it is a little more complicated than this but I won’t delve into this now). Then comes the content..

Search engines love (and have loved for some time) websites that publish and update content regularly and consistently. But this content needs to be relevant and tagged correctly – reiterating the keywords that you essentially want to be found for.

The only way to get a linkback — that dangling SEO carrot — is to have content worth linking to.


So there we have it – you won’t be found on the big search engines without content. Not being found by the big search engines means limited traffic and dwindling sales.

So how do I do it? How do I produce content?


It is all about providing something of value to your consumer – and being viewed as an ‘expert’ in your field. Think of your target market, what interests them? Where do they hang out? What do they enjoy? And then get started producing images, articles, blog posts, infographics, videos – that are engaging and most importantly relevant to you, your business and your field.
